Praying From Scripture...
Praying directly from the Word of God is a tried-and-true, proven formula for correct and effective prayer. Using a familiar passage, and filling in the subject of the prayer with the name of a person, a particular church, or our city, personalizes the scripture passage.
For example, using Phillipians 1:27, pray "Only let each church in Spokane's manner of life be worthy of the Gospel of Christ, so that whether we come to see them or are absent, we may hear of them that they are standing firm in one spirit..." Or you could pray for a particular church, pastor, or believer.
Some appropriate passages to pray: II Chronicles 7:14, Phillipians 1:27, I Corinthians 1:10, Ephesians 3:14-21, Ephesians 2:8-10, Phillipians 1:3-6, Phillipians 2:12-13, Phillipians 4:8, Collossians 1:9,10, Collosians 3:12-16, Proverbs 3:5,6, II Thessalonians 2:16,17, I Timothy 2:8, II Timothy 2:15,16, James 1:2-4. There are many, many more.
So as you pray for our city and the various expressions of the Body of Christ, season your prayers with scripture prayed for the city, the churches of the city, and the pastors and people of that church.
